do you think it is good enough to know basic html to start javascript or do you need to become an expert? i kn

i know the basics like how to identify certain objects but not enough to code a good website.

Nah you can play with Javascript at any level. For more complex stuff, you’ll need to learn more and more. Baby steps to webmastering! :-)

Learn one thing NOW while you’re still starting: always, always, ALWAYS use Javascript as an ENHANCEMENT, not a dependent technology. That is, many browsers (including search engines) and visitors do not have Javascript enabled. If your site’s functioning DEPENDS on Javascript, it will break. So make sure to test your pages with Javascript disabled to see what happens.

This is significant. Google for “accessibility guidelines” to see how important it is.
