Tips for Understanding Goal Setting

May 2, 2008 · Print This Article

Setting goals is very important. You want to make certain that you’re doing everything that you can to keep your goals close to you at all times. When you’re applying a few good tips to make your goals a reality, you’ll discover goal setting to be much easier and more exciting.

The most important tip for reaching goals is to use reminders regularly. Reminders will make it easier for you to update your advancement and remain on the right track. You can write yourself little notes so that you can recall what you want to be done. Without reminders to help you remember what your goals are, you’ll most likely forget about what your original goal was in the first place and this is will make it harder for you to get where you desire to be.

Be precise with your goal. If you’re goal setting, it’s important to recognize and understand what you would like to achieve. You need to make certain that you’re clear on what you would like to do and how you would like to do it. When you’re sure about what you want you’ll be better able to create your goals and make them more realistic. This is going to help you get to where you want to be in a shorter time limit.

Keeping the stress out of your life is important. You need to make certain that you’re doing everything that you can to keep stress out of your life. Once you have less stress, you’re going to make your goals a lot easier to achieve. If you have stress in your life, you’re sure to be too anxious and this will make it harder for you to achieve your goals.

Be proud of yourself when you’re able to achieve a goal. You should take great victory in the goals that you achieve. You’ll find it to be something that makes you happy and it will also give you the motivation to make more goals and to try your best to achieve them. It’s a great feeling and you want to be proud of the hard work that you’ve done to make them happen.

Remember that goals are important to have for almost anything.

The more goals that you have means the harder you have to work. However, the achievements that you make and the feeling that you get when you do them is going to be all the reward that you’ll need to do more goal setting. Take advantage of the goal setting tips you find and make them work for you.

    Jeffrey,
So right and so often expereinced by anyone starting Internet Marketing. It’s so easy to move away from your initial goals and starting doing more and more while stress is building up. But as long it stays fun doing it you can keep the stress away….

I totally agree that goal setting will keep you on the right track. I also like the part about keeping out the stress. We have enough of that in our life already.

    Hi Jeff,

You are absolutely right about setting goals. We have done it in our business and it does help to motivate you to get it done. But it seems the goal setting can be a stress in itself. It is like when we were tying to get our major Press Release done. That was somewhat stressful but felt extremely good and rewarding when we nailed it and got it published. Thanks a bunch for the help with that too Jeff.

Even a lofty goal that falls short of your expectations will have you far more advanced in your business than not having any goals at all.

Thanks for all your great advice Jeff and enjoy your day,

    Glenn

I set goals but then it seems like I can’t figure out the right steps to get there. I have been diagnosed as very A.D.D., so I’m sure that doesn’t help. I am taking meds for it but it doesn’t seem to make much difference. I can’t keep my mind on one thing. Every little distraction, or not knowing how to do something, sends me off in another direction.

There’s got to be other A.D.D. marketers out the who are making money online. (I’m not yet)
    How do you do it.

Feel free to send me an email if you’ve got answers.

    Take Care Diane

    Great tips.

If you’d like a tool for setting your goals, you can use this web application:

    http://www.Gtdagenda.com

You can use it to manage your goals, projects and tasks, set next actions and contexts, use checklists, schedules and a calendar.
A mobile version is available too.
